Newton Gripper button assignment

Installed Newton Gripper and assigning buttons. Read article from 2018 and wondering if there were any software updates that have changed process of assigning buttons.

Currently have gripper working using the Lights buttons.
Using pixhawk with firmware 4.1.2 and Qcontrol V.4.3.0
Also using wired Xbox controller.

What can I change gripper to and regain my light controls??
Also need better instructions on how to do the button assignments !
Thanks,
Bill

Hi @wjwalker -
Can you share what “article” you were referring to?
This guide should cover everything you need to know!
In terms of buttons assignments, that guide links to these instructions.

Yes it was a thread about Newton Gripper in Dec 2018.

Respectfully disagree with your comment about instructions having everything i need to know. i’m sick of reading them repeatedly and you tell me they hold all the secrets, not true by me.

Example: button 15 is the only extra button with full list of functions under drop down arrow.
gripper works assigned to 13 for lights but both 13 and 18 light up on panel,
when 14 is pressed 14 and 19 light up. If i push the lighted xbox symbol for shift the same buttons light up but gripper does not work.
xbox symbol light makes button 5 light up.

OK, how do you map the shift button into a function??

Hi Bill -
Nice talking with you. For the benefit of others-

  • The second column of drop-down menus in the QGC button mapping is for the"shift" functions, enabled by whatever button is selected as shift.
  • The Xbox or Playstation icon button on controllers is generally not possible to use - while it shows up and works, it can often trigger other things to happen on the computer (Mac and Windows.)
  • Our default heavy parameters are being corrected - users should verify that: SERVO10_Function = Disabled, SERVO10_Reversed = Normal, and SERVO9_Function = Disabled.
