Integrating HOTAS Warthog (stick/throttle) into cockpit flight control

good afternoon everyone new BlueROV2 Heavy operator
and new here as well.
after a few failed attempts to effective use the windows controller with - ground control.
i then moved over to Cockpit and had better results, but still not what was needed.
then i moved up t the Thrustmaster Hotas warthog A-10C stick/throttle.
this controller is everything that i was looking for.
the fine control is amazing over the windows unit and seems to be more stable with cockpit as well.
the problem
from what i can see is there is two problems that i am dealing with.
first is the setup menu tab for the controller. every time you open it, it has the windows game controller on the screen.
i have to trigger the stick for it to pop up on screen,
I’m not sure if the software is switching between the two or if that’s the default page or not.
the second problem is the bigger one, there is not quite enough function in the joystick alone, so i need to use the second controller as well, the problem is that cockpit sees it and populates it but there is no function coming from it to the ROV.
i would like to add the griper, and ascend & descend, to it as well.
i also think that all the functions for the ROV should be able to be assigned to the stick
only.
there is technically 32 possible channels with the shift function on the stick.
in my opinion for anyone that needs ultra fine control for the ROV this is the way to go!
Also Cockpit is by far the best of the two software’s that you can use’
PS: i have added a link to the controller’s in question.

PPS: i seem to be also having a problem getting BlueOS V 1.3.1.0 to log on to the internet
that’s confusing because it was working last week when i did the updates.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Steve

Hi!
An old workaround is emulate X box with these two controllers:

Hey Steven!

First of all, thanks for everything you said! It’s really cool to receive such feedback!

About the usage of those kind of sticks, let me say first that it’s in our plans to integrate similar ones. We currently have a Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flightdeck and a Logitech HOTAS X56 with us. We bought those specifically to support this kind of usage.

To better understand, the main problem right now is that even with both the main stick and the side slider connected, and they both appearing in Cockpit, only the first one is sending commands to the ROV. That’s it?

The current implementation on Cockpit was indeed targeting the usage of only one controller at a time. We didn’t had this kind of application in mind. That said, I don’t imagine it being a lot of work to make both controllers contribute to the ROV commands at the same time. Let me take a look at the code and get back to you.

In the meantime, could you attach a video showing the problem? It would help a lot.
Also, the goal is to use also the “axes” of the side controller or just the buttons?

Hi Rafael no problem, I was called back to work this week so I will put together a video showing what I’m seeing this Saturday and send it over asap.
Cheers and have a great day
Steve

Hi Rafael
the answer to your first question is correct and if you un-asight the duplicate commands on the second controller it kills the function the first controller.
so i think it’s seeing the second control surface but not taking commands from it.
PS: i tried to send the files from the interface to you and the video for you, it was kicked back, rejected by your server.
I will try again tomorrow to get them out.
PPS: it had something about the code structure
Anyway, cheers!
