One thing ground control stations are lacking are good guides – @tony-white and I collaborated to put this video together showing the in’s and out’s of Cockpit. I hope to do the same with the BlueBoat once mission planning / execution is implemented.
Sidenote: if I can put in a plug for a cockpit feature – please include ENC Charts for setting the background maps in the ‘Mission’ tab!!
Hey Phil - thanks for this as very useful overview! Have used cockpit for a while and also find it very impressive but had no idea BR had already included a video stream record joystick button option!
I use iframes to create seperate views for the Omniscan 450FS and Ping1d sonar which I cannot tell you how awesome that is but see this tip from @tony-white.
I also include the Blueos mainpage as a seperate ‘view’. Highly recommended when using the standalone version (Windows) as keeps everything you need only a button press away.
There is also a generic mini-widgit option which counts the number and direction of tehter turns which I’ve found important for tether managment.
Also noticed that your video was a little blurry underwater but not out of the water. Definitely check out this suggestion from @Marco which is a great solution for this issue.
Hi Bill - glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate the notes!
Will definitely be setting up some sonars in the next couple months, and I appreciate that tip with the IP address / networking. Always a hidden beast haha.
And I 100% thought your second link would be a suggestion to prevent condensation (which I did have an issue on the day of recording), great to know the focal length / focus of the lens can be improved!
I’m also planning to mount some GoPros and Insta 360 atop the whole setup (maybe using two ‘roof rack’ crossbars to get higher resolution and 360 viewing.
Thank you again for the tips! Excited to feel out cockpit more as I get more dives under my belt.
