I am planning to replace the potted penetrators on my T200 thrusters with Wetlink Penetrators. It will require more cable lengths to make it possible. Is it possible to replace the cable going into a T200 ROV thruster core with out damaging the thruster core?
Hi @CBW3750
If you’re asking about the end of the cable that goes into the thruster itself, that is not possible to replace as it is potted in. If you need to upgrade from potted penetrators, you may be able to work the potting free from the penetrator bolts as this user detailed a process for. For thrusters that don’t need the full length of their cable, you can simply cut off the end and use the WetLink on it from there.
The trouble you’re going to is definitely worth it! One can’t ever really trust a potted connection to be robust…
Okay! Thank you Tony! I appreciate the quick response! Yes! Using your suggested method I’ll remove the potted perpetrators from the T200 thrusters with a heat gun and replace them with Wetlink penetrators that fit T200 thruster cables.
