I’m encountering some issues while integrating the Waterlinked Underwater GPS with BlueROV2. I followed the steps in the official guide: BlueROV Integration. However, I’ve run into the following problems:
The topside PLC LED (3), which indicates a link with FXTI or BlueROV2, keeps blinking and never stays solid.
I’m unable to access 192.168.2.2 when the topside is connected to FXTI.
When I open the Underwater GPS GUI, it displays “No External Depth” and “No Locator.”
I’ve double-checked all the connections and configurations but haven’t been able to resolve these issues. Has anyone else experienced something similar or can provide troubleshooting advice?
Hi @Zimeng-Wang -
If you don’t have a link light lit continuously on both the ROV Fathom-X and the FXTI on the surface, no communication can occur over the ethernet interface. Double check your tether connections, and verify the resistance of the two wires used:
Thank you for your prompt response! The communication between the FXTI and the ROV is functioning properly. The flashing light appears on the UGPS topside, so I believe the issue lies in the communication between the UGPS and the ROV.
Hi @Zimeng-Wang -
If you’re not able to access 192.168.2.2, then it’s not likely that communication is functioning properly! I believe the PLC light in that documentation from WaterLinked is the equivalent of the link light on the Fathom-X. You can check in the ROV - if the Link light on the port side of the unit does not stay continuously illuminated, then there is an issue in the 2-wire ethernet communications (circled in yellow)
If this only occurs when WaterLinked hardware is connected, you could try reversing the polarity of this data wire connection. If that doesn’t do the trick, some aspect of the hardware you’re introducing may be damaged.
I’ve made some progress and can now access both the BlueROV interface at 192.168.2.2 and the UGPS GUI at 192.168.2.94. However, the UGPS GUI still shows the following errors: “External depth not received” and “Acoustic signal from locator not detected”
I’ve tried reversing the polarity as suggested, but the issue persists. Do you have any recommendations ?
Hi @Zimeng-Wang -
It sounds like your remaining issues are related to the UGPS configuration. Besides contacting WaterLinked for support, (assuming their troubleshooting steps don’t help) it’s worth verifying you have the UGPS BlueOS extension installed?
