Installing BlueOS for DVL on older BlueROV?

Hi, I have a BlueROV2 purchased in Aug2019. After asking here, and finally getting funding, I’ve got a DVL to install. I’m at the point where it’s asking me to install BlueOS. I assume I follow it’s directions even if BlueOS guide says it’s for newer units?

Also, assuming I should go ahead with this, WTH is the SD card reader?! On the board under the pixelhawk? Apologies, I assume I must have installed the software when I first put it together, but it’s been a while…

Sorry for the stupid questions, I’m worried that it’s something I can’t go back from.

Thanks

Hi @Dean.C -
You’re not asking stupid questions at all! When you setup your ROV, it had Companion OS already installed. Since then, we’ve moved on to BlueOS, which is installed on new BlueROV2s by default. We’ve recently been focused on making sure this newer software works perfectly with older hardware like yours - not to worry!
To install BlueOS on the SD card of the Raspberry Pi, you’ll need to open the enclosure and pull the SD card out from the underside of the pi, on the side closes to the camera. This is easiest to do if you un-do the two bolts that hold the front circular plate with camera on, pulling it off to then be able to access the SD card. Once you’ve flashed it with your computer, you can reinstall and reassemble. You’ll need to perform your sensor calibrations again, after going through the initial vehicle setup wizard - to get started visit blueos.local or 192.168.2.2 a few minutes after powering on the system with the updated SD card.
The DVL setup should be easy from that point! You can also use lots of new things, like extensions - Cockpit may be of interest as we try to move away from QGround Control…
