Basestation Max Input Voltage

What is the maximum voltage on the USB C connector for charging the basestation?

Everything I plug the basestation into to charge gives me errors or will not charge it. I do have a 2 amp USB C 12v adapter for a mini pc. Is this voltage too high? Can it only handle 5v?

I’ve tried about everything to get it to charge. Took out the battery module and plugged it in directly. Seems there must be something wrong with it.

Only used the thing once to test it out. I’m going to have to find a better solution than this.

Hi @dpittman -
The best way to charge the BaseStation is to leave it turned off, plug it in, and push the charge button. You should see the orange light illuminate and the battery indicator flash indicating it is charging. Leave it overnight, and you’ll be topped off! It charges very slowly, even more so if it is powered on at the same time…
The charger only accepts 5V.

Hey Tony. The unit will not accept a charge at all. Plugging it into any normal source will not illuminate the orange light when the charge button is pressed. Every USB port I plug it into shorts.

I can get the orange light to come on if I plug it into the usb out of a NOCO battery pack. It draws so much power the usb cable gets hot. I think the NOCO was 28Wh. I drained it three times and the basestation wouldn’t even move one bar of charge.

I was at a remote site and had to use the basestation. Had to disconnect the batteries and board to power the usb to Ethernet and radio directly with 12vdc.

This was only the second time I ever used it. Had it out once last fall to test the boat. Went to use it now and it wouldn’t charge. Pretty disappointing considering the cost of it.

Im just going to scrap the battery thing and use a POE injector. Much easier and far more reliable.

Hi @dpittman -
What you describe is definitely highly irregular for a BaseStation, and not something Blue Robotics has encountered thus far. Opening it up to investigate is a logical next step, please do so, and share pictures via the contact form. If your unit is functional, it can likely be replaced! Please include your order # for the BaseStation.
