X8R + Taranis X9D with Boat

Hello community,

I’ve been searching similar topics and don’t want to make duplicates, still I didn’t find answer for my case.

I have a blueboat and I have FrSky X8R with Taranis X9D Plus binded together. So far I got the idea that I need to setup SERIAL1_PROTOCAL to RCIN and RC_OPTION to 36, and nothing connected to serial 1 ( I suppose that default factory setting and physical wiring considering that there was nothing on the serial 1 port and I left it as it came).

But I can’t see anything on the radio page of the mission planner or QGC (tried on 4.2.8 and mission planner latest )

I tried to connect that X8R reciever to Cube Black and i can see all the stick response in the mission planner for the ArduRover fw.

What might a be problem here?

Hi @nurjan14 -

Your receiver should be communicating via SBUS, and potentially needs a trace cut on the Navigator? See the documentation here.

Hi @tony-white thanks for pointing out, I’ve missed this.

I will it check tomorrow

Hey @tony-white just to clarify,

in the guide it mentioned that

By default the RC input is configured for SBUS (inverted) protocol. To use a radio that uses a normal (noninverted) UART signal, cut the trace between the SBUS and center solder pad and solder the jumper on the back of the Navigator PCB to the UART position

So in my case I am using the S.BUS from the FfSky X8R receiver which is in inverted mode. And currently on my navigator 3 pads on backside which are not soldered or cut (as it comes with blueboat from factory)

So it should work, isn’t ? Am I missing something

Hi @nurjan14 -

You’re correct, no modification should be necessary. Have you verified the Receiver is powered by the 5V Aux input on the Navigator, which supplies the output pints on the Navigator?

Apparently, the navigator board the RC pin providing power which is enough to power the X8R.

I reflash the sd card, put the same settings, and it finally appeared in the screen tried MP/QGC in ubuntu 22.
