Less of a problem to be solved, more of a curiosity.
When I have an ROV active in QGC I get a micro-stutter every 1s, and it lasts for like, 1 frame. No big deal as I don’t think that will impact my ability to maneuver the ROV for inspections.
I did a test record and oddly enough the video itself is buttery smooth.
Any idea what causes this? I did just update QGC and BlueOS to their latest versions to try and solve both that issue, and the record button going MIA when the ROV video feed comes through. The micro-stutter is still there after the update (but the video record button is back, so yay).
To be honest, I never use QGC for BlueROV2 piloting anymore - Cockpit is just so nice!
I’d suspect your computer may be struggling to handle the video - is it in a powersave mode on battery power? Also, we only recommend the older QGC, version 4.2.8, as we’ve not tested much with newer versions….
I’ll see about downgrading to 4.2.8 then, but I highly doubt it’s my laptop. I’ve got the AOG Strix G18 and it’s a proper powerhouse, battery is set to performance mode.
UPDATE: I don’t know how, if possible to edit the post. But the issue has been fixed, the RJ45>USB adapters we were using had their speed set to “auto-negotiate”, the new ones we are using have their speed set to the full 2.5gbs and there’s 0 lag now.
