UART/SBUS Jumper for RC on Navigator

Greetings All,

We have a HCU/RC unit (Skydroid H16) that we want to use for RC control and to get telemetry information. I have the unit hooked up and we are getting telemetry info in QGC on the HCU, but I am not getting RC control. Turns out this unit uses normal, non-inverted, signal for SBUS. In the manual it says to cut the trace between the SBUS and center solder pad, and solder the UART side to the center pad. Before I proceed I took a picture of our navigator and it does not look like there is any trace soldered.

Can I just solder the UART to the center pad to get the non-inverted RC signal to be read?

Best,

Ian

Hi @FairweatherIT

There is a trace between SBUS and the middle pad, it’s just hard to see because its covered up by the solder mask.

It’s also thick and a little hard to cut through, FYI, I found this out myself.

The newest revision of the Navigator fixes this and this trace should be much easier to see and cut.

Thanks Daniel…is the trace located here under the black coating on the Navigator? And we just solder the UART side to the middle pad?

Hi @FairweatherIT -

That’s correct! You can check with a multimeter, you don’t want conductivity between the center and right pad once it is properly cut.
