Problem Blueos and Cockpit

Hi Forum and Support
I have installed a pre flashed Sd card with Blueos from Blue Robotics to my BR2 Rov and also installed Cockpit in my topside W11 computer. After installation and tests on my desktop I did first dive with it. It worked for 3 minutes. When I Armed it again thrusters did not work any more. All other functions in the BR2 seemed to work. Error message in picture.
Can anyone help. What the problem is.

Regards Bo

Hi @Bovikarby
Have you resolved this issue? Closing and re-opening Cockpit may help? Does the unit still work with QGC?
Can you share what version of Cockpit, BlueOS, and ArduSub you’re using?

Hi Tony
Thanks for responding to my problems. I am recalibrating all the sensors and will let you know the outcame after a testdive first thing monday
Regards Bo

Hi Tony
I started in QGC and calibrated sensors. Compass calibration finished. After that it showed this message.

The ROV was stable on the floor pointing straight W and the heading on the compass was slowly drifting from 270 deg to 317 and back to 250 deg.

QGC v4.2.8
Ardusub v4.5.0
Cockpit v1.0.1
Blueos v1.3.1

Hi @Bovikarby -
That all looks normal! ArduSub 4.5 introduced location parameters used to set the compass magnetic declination, hence the errors you see. Setting ORIGIN_LAT and ORIGIN_LON parameters to the approximate geographic position of your system should resolve things! You can do this from QGC or BlueOS under Autopilot Parameters.

Hi Tony
I followed your instruction and set Lat and Lon in Autopilot Parameters; se picture

Restarted the ROV and when I armed got folowing warnings in QGC and Cockpit;

It is not possible put in North for Lat and Est forLon
Please advice

Hi,
yesterday I went out for a training dive and got the same problem. Maybe it has something to do with Ardusub 4.5.0 beta which was the last change of the system I did because I needed one more free slot for the joystick in cockpit. Before I updated that the ROV seemed to be OK.

Also I noticed a poor latency in communication with the ROV. Additional the screen freezes every few seconds for about half a second. This happens in QGC and in Cockpit. With an old QGC and Ardusub version everything was fine on this machine.
Best regards
Chris

Hi @schleitaucher -
Your issue with video freezing could be conected to the newer version of QGC, and not the Ardusub version (which should not be able to affect the video stream…)

@Bovikarby -
Please post your parameters related to EK3 - have you changed these from the defaults?

Hi Tony
I have not changed any parameters from defaults
Submarine-4.5.0-STABLE-20241111-162558.params (18.6 KB)
Is this the data you requested
Regards Bo

Hi,

You need to use signed lat/lon (negative west and south).
Additionally you need to set EK3_SRC1_POSXY to 0 (None).

Hi Tony and Willian
Done proposed changes and ROV seemes to work now.
Many thanks for exelent and quick support
Best regards Bo

Hi Willian, in Australia is there any issue if I use negative South and East coordinates for lat/lon? Many Thanks

No issues. I have both latitude and longitude negative myself =]

Thanks Willian - its just that down here we need to use South/East rather than West/South for lat/lon. No idea why but I’m sure there’s a good reason!
