Is it possible to replace the BlueROV2 electronics enclosure with a custom filled 5", 6", 8" enclosure on top of the ROV2, while placing the BlueROV2 electronics enclosure at the bottom on a payload skid? For our application we need to have a large transparent enclosure visible from the top side.
Another option would be to attach a large enclosure on one side of the ROV2 (heavy configuration). The additional enclosure in this case can be placed vertically or horizontally.
I have read the discussion on Large Camera Enclosure Options. It seems possible to have larger enclosures attached but I am not sure if the setup for our application is possible or not.
Below is an illustrative image for the intended setup. Do you recommend any of these setups or any other setup?
Hi @OBushnaq -
Welcome to the forums!
A larger enclosure is going to have significantly more buoyancy! The 4" main electronics enclosure is already positively buoyant on its own - that’s why it is above the battery enclosure, which is negative. This separation of CG and CB give the vehicle passive stability. If you put a larger enclosure on top, perhaps with a roof rack and enclosure clamp, you’ll need additional ballast attached as low as possible. I’m not sure if moving the 4" enclosure down to a payload skid makes sense, as a larger enclosure won’t fit between the buoyancy fairings. If those are removed, you could probably figure out a way to secure the larger enclosure to the frame, but it will be trickier than just using the roof rack and clamp!
