Ping Sonar: Open Source Firmware Option

We’re excited to announce that our popular Ping Sonar Altimeter and Echosounder now has a fully open-source firmware available! You can explore, customize, and contribute directly in our new public repository, giving you total control over the sonar’s capabilities :gift_heart:

:information_source: This is an alternative firmware, not the one that comes with the device.

This version is an initial release that provides an equivalent feature set to the original firmware.

Why Open Source

We believe in empowering our community to adapt and innovate. This firmware release lets you tweak features, experiment with new behaviors, collaborate, and share enhancements. Whether you’re mapping seafloors, measuring altitudes, ice thickness, or just exploring new waters, the Ping Sonar is now more flexible than ever! :star2:

Dive in, explore the new open-source firmware, and let us know what you create! We look forward to your contributions and feedback.

See you on (and under) the water! :ocean::coral:
