Ping echosounder doesn't connect to serial interface

Hi,

I tried to connect my ping echosonder to my PC, but it seems that I can’t communicate with him. I tried to send him multiple messages, using the ping protocol (even the message shown on the page), but he doesn’t respond. I also tried to connect him to Ping Viewer, but the echosounder isn’t recognised. I followed the different tips for troubleshooting, but it still doesn’t work.

So I have few questions about it. Do I need to send a particular first message to the echosounder to start it ? What are the requirements for the serial adapter ?

Hi Gatien,

Please, first thing that you need to do is to make Ping-Viewer be able to communicate with it.
Which serial adapter are you using ? Is the serial adapter showing up in your computer ?
