Hello,
We use the blueboat in an alpine lake (altitude of 2000 meters) and the GPS never worked (zero satellites detected).
We are sure there were satellites because the other GPSs worked.
We tested the boat, both before and after the mission to the alpine lake, in our laboratory (240m asl) and the GPS works.
What could be the cause? Is there perhaps a block to the GPS functioning above a certain altitude? Some interference?
I also underline that there were no errors of any kind.
I couldn’t find anything listed in the vendor documentation, so I’ve asked our team and will follow up if we have any relevant information.
I’m aware that there are some GPS receiver units that self-disable for ITAR reasons (to avoid being used on ballistic missiles), but even if that’s the case for this unit it shouldn’t occur until significantly higher altitudes. Perhaps there’s a firmware bug from an incorrect unit conversion or something.
