It has been a while since I have posted to the Blue Robotics forum. Over the last couple of years we have been very busy working on a new sonar technology that would allow Think Sensor Research to launch a wide range of sonar products at a lower price point than our previous products. We are finally ready to launch our first product in this new line up, the TSR-1000 Echosounder. The TSR-1000 Echosounder is available either in 675 kHz or 200 kHz versions, it is designed offer similar performance to the echosounders from the big companies in the market at a much more affordable price point. The TSR-1000 Echosounder is a fully pulse to pulse coherent sonar, which means you can calculate the Doppler shift on the receive signal. The sonar can output depth and water column data, and one dimensional current speed can be calculated from the sonar data output. The output from the echosounder can be I/Q (floating point) or magnitude data (16 bit integer). Currently there are two communication protocols, a modified version of the ping protocol to work with pingviewer and our own protocol, which will be open with provided python examples. We have a modified version of Pingviewer available at:
We added the support of 16bit magnitude sonar data and GPS position input.
Our new website is at www.thinksensor.com, this is just a start, much more information will be added over the next month. We initially showed the echosounder in our booth at Oceanology back in March.
In addition to the echosounder we are working on a sidescan sonar, DVL and other products based on the same technology, the sidescan is planned to be released before the end of 2024.
The TSR-1000 Echosounder has a 900 meter depth rating Acetal underwater housing and includes a 5 meter underwater cable with a 6 pin micro circular underwater connector.
We have tested multiple prototypes of the echosounder over the last two years and are ready for the production run, at this point we are trying to find out the number of potential customers interested in our echosounder. The TSR-1000 Echosounder will be priced starting at $2,600USD plus shipping, this price will be valid until the end of 2024. One of the big challenges with any sonar system is topside software. Are there many users of Ping Viewer? Is it worth adding new features to ping viewer? Or is everybody using some other topside software?
Thank You,
