Hello Blue Robotics Community,
I am experiencing an issue while integrating the OmniScan 450-SS following the official guide. My goal is to access the sidescan sonar data, but I have encountered a problem with the position data (from the onboard GNSS).
When recording sonar data using the SonarView app, the position is not being recorded. The bottom right of the screen displays “UNKNOWN”
Upon replaying the recorded data, the position remains absent
When exporting the data from .svlog to .sl2 and importing it into ReefMaster, the software finds 0 elements related to GPS assets
I suspect there is a communication issue between the boat and the onboard GNSS. This could explain why the positional data is missing from the sonar log.
Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? What steps can I take to diagnose and resolve the communication problem between the OmniScan 450-SS and the GNSS? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
Hi @GEOSS -
Welcome to the forums!
Sorry for the issue - I faced it once before myself! The newer versions of SonarView needs to know how to get position data from the autopilot via Mavlink2Rest, see the documentation here. Once setup correctly, the vehicle should move on the SonarView interface (with waterfall mode turned off)
Thanks a lot for your helpful advice. The documentation you suggested solved the issue. It would be wise to add it at the end of the Integration Guide of the Omniscan 450 SS.
We have acquired some data before applying this configuration. Is there any way to inject GNSS data from the vessel log file into the .svlog file for reprocessing/syncronizing acquisition lacking GNSS data?
Hi @GEOSS -
It might be possible to recover that data, if you have a corresponding BIN log to the survey with lost data. The folks at Cerulean can advise on this process!
