Getting started with depth hold

Hi all, I’m new to QGroundControl/ArduSub and eventually want to set depth hold on my ROV. What is the process for setting this up?

Depth hold is accessible as long as your ROV has a depth estimate, which normally comes from an external pressure sensor like our Bar30 or Bar100. Most ROVs have such a sensor, and if you’ve got a BlueROV2 it will have come included.

Putting your ROV into depth hold mode requires switching the flight mode, which can be done either through the dropdown on QGC’s toolbar, or by using a joystick button that’s been configured to switch to depth hold mode (from our software setup guide, this will normally be the X button if you’re using an XBox controller).
