Get better vision for your ROVs in turbid waters with Lolaark's ALSvision

Lolaark LLC wishes all members of Blue Robotics forum a very happy new year 2021.

We are happy to announce two new software products (ALSvision ROV and ALSvision Offline) for BlueROV2, to improve visibility in turbid waters. These products help increase horizontal visibility up to three times in highly murky waters.

ALSvision ROV has been tested to work in parallel to QgroundControl, to provide live visibility enhancement during underwater operations. It requires a Windows 10 system with i7 hexa core processor and NVIDIA GPU (GTX 1060, RTX 2060, or equivalent).

ALSvision Offline on the other hand, helps improve visibility in pre recorded videos. A demo example below is taken using a Blue Robotics camera with a Raspberry Pi 3 companion computer. The companion computer and the camera are connected to the topside computer with an ethernet RJ45-cable and with a UDP protocol. The system works even with Qground control running. The original video stream was recorded at 15Mbps by ALSvision at 720p and 25fps. In the video below you can see the two panels, original and clarified video streams side-by-side as shown in the ALSvision ROV. The distance from the 2.5 lbs weight plate is 18in. We used only one GoPro light of 320-lumen power. The water in the tank is from the Port of Galveston. For more information visit : https://www.lolaark.com

I present here another example of highly turbid conditions. ALSvision helps see structures that are almost invisible due to soil and other suspended particles.
