Hey everyone, I’m having issues getting both of my BlueROV2 to connect through their tethers.
I have reconfigured the network connection countless times following the software guide with no success. I have the blue flashing light on the navigator, with green flashing lights indicating communication on the Ethernet ports 1 and 5. (UPDATE) the FXTI link light is flashing 8sec on 2sec off for both rovs no matter which FXTI box they are connected to
I can access blueOS when I connect directly to the port on the pi or port5 on the ethernet switch (from here I can also view my multibeam and dvl). I have recently reflashed the sd cards
Both ROVs are connected through 300m tethers on the large spool.
Hi @Aknawby -
If you don’t have a solid green Link LED on your FXTI, you’ll never get connected! You can measure the resistance between the Fathom-X tether module used in both ROV and topside to verify your tether is ok, and try switching to another color tether pair (making the swap in both locations.)
I measured resistance (~42ohms) which I had thought was good. I switched to a different twisted pair (green) and both ROV’s are now working. I measured again and still saw ~42ohms, strange that they are the same but I assume the impedance is different. Has anyone hooked these up to a VNA and measured them?
Hi @Aknawby -
Glad switching pairs fixed things! Sometimes the twist of a pair and the impedance may affect the connection, as you’ve found. I’ve not looked at the connection with a VNA before, that may be interesting. You can get a more in-depth look at things with the tether diagnostic extension installed in BlueOS!
