Blue Robotics Basic ESC Working Temperature Range

Hi,

I am looking to establish a working range for the Basic ESC. It is a 30A. From what I could find online, 85 C is the max temp recommended without external cooling. At 105 C the ESC can experience damage. By default, from 140 C the ESCs temp protection kicks in and at > 155 C the power is cut off to the motor.

So, I’d like to know what is the minimum temp rating, the max temp rating for the Blue 30A ESC?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!
Blue Robotics has not conducted min/max temperature testing, but have had folks use the BlueROV2 with BasicESC in artic waters! I would assume the lower (minimum) limit is below freezing temperatures.

As for the maximum, the values you share seem appropriate. Generally when the Raspberry Pi reports temperatures of its CPU above 75-80C, operation of the control system (not the ESCs) may be impacted, and the low-light USB camera is likely dropping frames to prevent overheating before things get that warm (65-75C)
