USBL Hardware Options

I am now looking at buying a USBL for my BR2. I have done a forum search and see that all previous USBL recommendation posts are many years old and no doubt technology has moved along a fair bit since then.
I am looking for a USBL unit, I already have a Cerulean Tracker650, so the Cerulean ROV Locators would be the obvious units to look at first, however is there something out there that would suit my needs more?
I am looking for a unit to be used primarily from concrete or rock quaysides, however some occasional boat use.
I would like a unit that will compliment the Tracker 650 and not argue with it.
I would like to be able to have a unit where the topside software will store a file (CSV or similar) with Time & location data.
I am not looking for survey grade, high accuracy is not so important but high precision would be nice.

What are peoples thoughts, please?

Hi @3dMB -
The ROVL Mk2 compliments the Tracker650 quite well - if you’re ok with Windows only software (that is a bit of a pain to use) you can fuse the DVL and ROVL position estimates and send them to the vehicle from the Cerulean Tracker software - make sure you install the latest version!

The topside does’t store the file you’re looking for, but a standard .BIN log (found under Autopilot logs, taken for as long as vehicle is armed) has all the information you need, and can easily be reviewed with this tool. Exporting the data from there is possible.

It is interning that you say the mk2 as opposed ot the mk3 - is this due to what you have experience with or is there something that the mk2 does better than the mk3?

Hi @3dMB -
I’ve only tested with the Mk2 - it is cheaper, and a bit less accurate - this would seem to fit your goals of

Either unit would work great with your Tracker 650!
