Unable to Access Ping Data and BlueOS on BlueROV2

Hello everyone,

I have a BlueROV2 with a Ping sensor attached, but I’m having trouble retrieving the Ping data. The sensor is not detected in the PingViewer application. Additionally, I am unable to access the BlueOS via blueos.local (or 192.168.2.2), even though I can successfully ping 192.168.2.2.

Here are the steps I’ve taken so far:

  • Configured the network on my laptop according to the setup guide.
  • Checked the connections and ensured that the Ping sensor is properly attached.

Despite these efforts, I still can’t access the BlueOS web interface or see the Ping data in PingViewer. I’m wondering if I need to modify any parameters in the QGroundControl (QGC) parameter list to get the Ping sensor working properly?

Any advice or guidance on how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @GLV13
Welcome to the forums!

It looks like you’re using an older BlueROV2 with Companion OS, which is no longer recommended / supported. I would not expect the BlueOS interface to load as a result!

You’ll need to remove your SD card and flash it with BlueOS, and then things should work as expected once you complete the vehicle setup.

Thanks for the reply @tony-white . How to make sure that my ROV is running on Companion OS instead Blue OS. And, Is there a way that we can upgrade the OS without removing the electronic enclosure.

If you took that screenshot @GLV13 , then you are running Companion OS. That interface is loaded at 192.168.2.2:2770.

To update, you must open the electronics enclosure to retrieve the MicroSD card from the Raspberry Pi - this is easiest to do by removing the two bolts that attach the camera mounting plate to the standoffs, you can then easily remove the MicroSD card…
