Hi All:
We have a couple of custom ROVs that we’re looking to upgrade, changing some of the T200 thrusters to T500 to take advantage of their greater efficiency. The power supply will remain 16V (4S) and the ESCs and electronics will remain the same. The issue is how to feed the T500 thrusters through a M10 penetrator.
I know Blue makes a hybrid M14/M10 4" endcap that has 15 penetrations. Unfortunately we need 18 for this ROV, so that’s not an attractive option without doing a lot of redesign of the electronics- so we’d rather avoid that.
Has anyone found a good way to get the T500 cable through a M10 penetrator hole? Given that the T500 at 16V will be drawing about the same current as a T200, right now we’re looking at lopping off the T500 12AWG cable and splicing it to some 16AWG cable from T200s. This should work well, but again will be pretty time consuming.
Any other ideas out there? I can’t believe we’re the first people to run into this issue.
