Sharing Cellular Modem with Emlid M2

Hi everyone, I’m currently trying to set up an Emlid M2 for RTK on the blue boat for more accurate surveying. I have it set up and routed to the auto pilot currently. Is there a way to share the cellular signal I have with the blue robotics cellular Modem kit?

I’m recieving corrections through a 3rd party NTRIP network through a hot spot currently but I’d like to just use the one I have for the boat itself. Thank you very much!

Hi @Randomguy22 -
Glad you have position working from the Emlid M2 already!
If it’s possible to configure the router and DNS for the GPS, then it may be possible to point it at the BlueOS device IP (192.168.2.2) , and configure network settings to share the cellular internet connection with the network. You may need to enable the DHCP server in BlueOS as well… That’s assuming they’re on the same ethernet network already?
Have you seen the ntrip extension? It uses BlueOS internet access to pull corrections and push them to any connected GPS…

Thank you for the quick reply, I have tried to use the NTRIP extension but I feel like I am a little out of my depth when it comes to how to set it up. I was able to successfully get the extension connected to the NTRIP network I use but couldn’t get it routed to the M2 itself. I’m fairly new to using RTK units as we’ve traditionally just relied on GPS for the work that we have done in the past. If that is a better solution then I would prefer to use that method. Thank you again.

Hi @Randomguy22 -
Can you share how you’ve setup the RTK input to the autopilot? Are you using an NMEA bridge, or directly consuming the stream as udpin on Serial 2, as mentioned in the BlueBoat FAQ?

I currently have it set up as Serial 2 through usb right now. I’ve found that it works really well with the autopilot even without a “fix” position. Would a NMEA bridge be a better set up for forwarding the NTRIP connection?

I was able to get the NTRIP extension working after switching the M2 unit from USB to UART. Then I set the correction to Serial in the Emlid flow app. Thank you very much for all the help!
