Hi @RickMoss1 -
Do you have any files in a “temporary-video-chunks” in the same directory as the video folder? If so, @rafael.lehmkuhl may be able to advise on how to check if the recordings are recoverable.
Can you share what version of Cockpit and BlueOS you were using when these recordings were made?
Thanks Tony.
Indeed, there’s 11.4GB of files in Temporary Video Chunks…
Cockpit 1.12.2 and the latest BlueOS also.
Thanks in advance
@rafael.lehmkuhl , do you have any input on this by any chance?
Many thanks
Hey @RickMoss1! Sorry for not answering earlier. Lost this one in my inbox.
I’m working on a dedicated tool to help with that. It’s mostly working already, although it has some caveats so I decided not to publish yet.
Could you share the video chunks with me so I can test them with this tool and see if it works with them? If possible, you can send them to my email. If you prefer not to share them for confidentiality or any other reason, just let me know and I can deploy the current working version of my tool so you can test it with your video chunk files.
Hi @tony-white. I have a technician on a job right now experiencing the same issue. I think he’s running
BlueOS: 1.4.0
Cockpit: 1.15.1
Arduasub: 4.5.3
Is there ever a tool around to recover videos from the Temp Video Chunk folder?
What is causing this and what do we need to do to ensure videos are processed uncorrupted?
Thanks in advance.
Josh
Hey @VisionSubsea!
Are you running the standalone/desktop version? If so, there’s a WIP tool I was working on to process those cases. You can try it here.
You just need to access that page, click the “browse” button, go to the chunk folder (/cockpit/video/temporary-video-chunks, select all chunks (you can press CTRL/CMD+A to do that) and them click the “process all” button.
Once that is done, all the recording should be there intact. If they are not, please let me know and we can arrange a meeting so I can help you directly. All your video data is probably there, as we don’t remove it if the processing was not completed.
Hi @rafael.lehmkuhl -
Thanks for sending the details! We appreciate the access to the tool. We ended up re-doing the inspection passes and keeping our video capture clips to under 10 min of recording time. We had no issue with Cockpit processing with the associated file size.
We’ll check back for an update in BlueOS/Cockpit that resolves the issue! Or any other instruction regarding recording process in Cockpit that mitigates the potential for the incomplete videos.
We’re very impressed with the platform overall, so there is no doubt that we’ll see a resolution to the bug. Thanks again and if you need me to test or check anything during the process please send us a PM.
Thanks,
Josh
Thanks for the feedback @VisionSubsea! We really appreciate it.
We are doing some recording tasks and will get back here when we get more results.
