You will find a QGC icon at the bottom of the screen. Click on it and it will open. It sounds like it is minimized.
Like this one ?
I updated a few drivers on the PC and it rebooted via Bios. After that I removed and re- installed QGC again. Now it opens in 2 seconds. Strange…
Hi @SDI -
Try killing the process in task manager, waiting a bit after it closes, and then trying to launch again. This is sometimes necessary on windows machines. To confirm, you’re running version 4.2.8?
Hey there,
I’ve got the same issue now. installed latest QGC on a i7 Lenovo with Intel graphics card. The software is showing in task manager but not nothing else happens. I already re-installed the latest Intel driver but it did not aid. Any ideas how to solve this?
Hi @odedezra -
Have you killed the QGC process, and tried relaunching it? Are you using version 4.2.8? Restarting the computer and trying again could do the trick, the first launch of QGC can take quite awhile, and if you launch it again in this period it may fail completely as you’re finding. Patience is key!
Hi Tony thanks for your reply.
Yes tried it all, I’ve installed QGC many times in the past on various computer but never stumbled with such an issue. and its a totally new computer.
I killed the process many times, restarted, reinstalled Intel’s display driver, and waited for a while each time. Nothing happens.
Hi @odedezra -
What version of Windows are you using? Have you tried right-clicking, and running as administrator (after a fresh restart of the computer.)
Can you share a web link to the specific computer model you’re using?
Windows 11 Pro.
Yes I tried a few times to run as admin.

Hi @odedezra -
You mention you’re using the latest QGC? Have you tried the version we recommend, 4.2.8?
Hey @tony-white , I used the one linked from BR’s site and also the latest one from QGC site. Same result, its running in the background (showing in task manager) but not loading on the screen. Strange.
Its the one from your site 4.2.8?
New update. It works!
I installed QGC from the link on BR’s website, but this time I activated the software directly from the .exe file in QGC folder. It works this way, and yes I see that it’s 4.2.8.
Previously I was using the QGC link from windows’ start menu and I guess it linked to the previous installation (latest version).
It’s still not very clear to me, since I’m pretty sure I uninstalled that previous version and anyway I would expect that the latest installation would run over what ever version exists at the moment.
And also still a question why would the latest version won’t run properly on this bran new computer while on my own older computer it runs ok.
Hi @odedezra -
Your frustrations are why we are moving away from QGC to Cockpit in general! Sorry Windows was launching a different version than you realized, glad you got things figured out and working!
Why still using 4.2.8? … There are updated versions available. Is 4.2.8 best compatible with BR ?
Hi @diveexplorer -
That’s correct, newer versions can have issues and eliminate the camera configuration menu.
Hi Tony,
I tried using Cockpit but I had an issue connecting the xbox controller and later read that it was a know bug, I haven’t followed up to see if it was solved.
Hi @odedezra -
Where did you read that? Xbox and playstation controllers are the primary ones we’ve been testing with, and never had any issues I’m aware of!
somewhere in this thread:
I didn’t dig too deep into that and after a few attempts to connect the controller I switched back to QGC that worked fine.
Anyways we will give it a try again sometime soon.
Hi @odedezra
Interesting - there was a bug briefly where Cockpit didn’t work with Xbox controller, but only on the standalone desktop version of Cockpit. On the web-browser based, extension version of Cockpit launched from BlueOS this has never been an issue…
- X-Box controller does not work even though it shows in the joystick configuration settings, yet the cockpit on BlueOS works immediately with the same controller
Sidenote question: Does cockpit show depth and heading as well as the rest I see on various videos, like light dim, gain etc. On the video recording?
