Just wanted to check if QGC 4.2.8 is still the recommended version?
I also wanted to check how stable Cockpit is and if I should be considering switching and learning a new system?

Yes, QGC 4.2.8 is still our recommended version, as found in the technical reference.
For ROV operations, Cockpit can be considered stable and a great, customizable platform (ArduSub). For surface vehicle (ArduRover) applications, there are still enough bugs / features in development, particularly around mission planning and home points, that production use is not recommended…
