Ping2 Echosounder troubleshooting

Hi, I am trying to troubleshoot why the Ping2 Echosounder is not working. I would like to open it and check if the internals are working. Since the Ping2’s design is different, I would like to confirm the process of opening it, so that I don’t damage it.

Hi @abubakrazam,

There are instructions in the device recovery documentation

Unfortunately, there seems to be some water ingress. Just wanted to confirm the process for reassembly. Do I need to keep the sonar head clamped for it to be sealed properly? Right now the head does seem to pop out slightly.

Sorry to hear that. I’d recommend filling out our product problem form, so our support team knows about the issue and can help you to resolve it.

The locking cord should keep the head far enough into the body that the o-ring can make a radial seal against the walls. The seal could fail if

  1. the o-ring is damaged or has debris providing a channel for the water to bypass the seal,
  2. the WetLink Penetrator seal or o-ring have issues (or if it has been incorrectly installed), or
  3. the cable jacket is cut or the wires are exposed, and water has entered through it
