I have not used the ping echosounder, but to those that have - can I ask how far the signal travels into the seabed? Do you get any kind of sub bottom profile?
Short answer: negative. Sonar for sub-bottom profiling is very specialized for that purpose. Generally you will need a much lower frequency to penetrate any distance.
