I am planning to mount the Ping2 Sonar Altimeter and Echosounder on my underwater robot.
Can sediments be recognized with Ping sonar? (There is concrete at the end of the floor, and sediment exists on top of it.)
The thickness of the sediment must be measured.

The Ping2 is a very low power sonar. Typically, sub-bottom profiling sonar is required to measure sediment the thickness of layers, which uses considerable power and a lower frequency. You might have success, but only a test where you attempt to measure different known thicknesses of your mud over concrete layer will tell!
