Ping 360 Pulse Characteristics

What are the transmit pulse characteristics of the Ping 360 sonar? Is the bandwidth of the pulse configurable?

Hi Craig,

Yes, check the transducer message here, you’ll see everything that can be configured.

Thanks Patrick. What are the characteristics of the transmit pulse? Is it a narrow band or broadband pulse at user selected frequency?

Cheers,
Craig

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the questions. The pulse from the Ping360 is a narrow band pulse at a single frequency. It does not use CHIRP or coded pulses. The pulse length varies based on the selected range.

Are there any other specific things you want to know?

The frequency of ping360 is 750 KHz, right? But when I changed the frequency in pingviewer, the sonar took different image, which means the frequency can be changed. I did not change anything else when I tested the sonar in a tank. The water in the tank is still.

Hi @wang,

The frequency can be adjusted slightly. This will affect the range because the transducer is less sensitive at frequencies other than 750 kHz, so changing frequency will generally decrease the range capability.
