Hi, in the guides about tef-gel i have not noticed any limitations in terms of use where tef-gel would get in contact with acrylic end cap. I would say it makes sense to use it there since there is still stainless bolt - aluminum flange contact but am somewhat reluctant due to any effect it could have on the acrylic. Do you maybe have any pointers for me?
I smeared some tef-gel on an acrylic tube when you posted this - no sign of reaction thus far.
That guidance in the corrosion guide is more concerned with the plastic that thrusters are made from - it can be particularly sensitive to loc-tite for example.
Acrylic does not appear in the “incompatible materials” from the MSDS (which is a good sign), or in these reactivity testing results I managed to find (which is a neutral sign - i.e. “no info available”)
Accordingly it’s unlikely to be harmful to acrylic, but without dedicated testing / a clearer breakdown of its exact material composition it’s not possible to give a definitive answer.
