Curious if there’s a best glue to use inside an enclosure or if it doesn’t matter? We’ll be gluing a magnet switch to an acrylic end cap (we will use glue designed for acrylic). Not sure if pressure/temperature/etc changes matter in choosing a glue. Can we just use a super glue, or do we need to switch to something like an epoxy?
Hi @LiveForLiving -
I would strongly recommend not using superglue anywhere near acrylic enclosure tubes! The outgassing from the superglue can cause the surface to “craze”. If you need to secure a switch, would it be possible to 3D print a mount that bolts in place on the internal end cap flange threads?
Otherwise, super glue or epoxy could be used but the piece should be far away from the enclosure tube when glued, and well ventilated (via a fan.) Make sure it is well cured, 24 hours + before assembling!
Thanks for that answer. The 3D design is a good idea, we may explore that so nothing is permanent. Otherwise, we don’t care if the acrylic end cap gets hazy…but the enclosure needs to stay clear- so thank you for that advice.
