Navigator Servo Power Rail Max Current

I’m working on a micro AUV project. For fin control I will be using three servos with around 2.5A stall current (each). What is the current rating on the Navigator AUX 5V input and servo power rails?

Hi @samkron, welcome to the forum

Cool! Keen to see progress on that as you go, if you’re willing to share it

That’s pretty hefty! Do you expect it’s likely your operating conditions could cause multiple to stall at once?

We don’t have a listed current limit for the Aux rails, so I’ll ask internally and get back to you if/when there’s a response. That said, my understanding is that kind of pin header typically has a maximum rating of ~1-3A per pin (although some higher end ones are more like 4-6, depending on what kind of connector pins you’re using). If you expect stalls / high loads are highly unlikely to occur simultaneously or for extended durations then that could be fine, but it might also be worth considering powering the servos separately and only using the rail for the signals.
