Navigator Board BlueOS Setup Errors

Hi all,

I’m brand new to ROVs and setting up the electronics in particular. I’m supervising a group of high school students who are working to build a ROV though, so trying to assist them as much as I can when they get stuck with something.

They’ve recently bought a Navigator board and have it connected to a Raspberry Pi 4B, and connecting to this via ethernet cable.

After following the Hardware Setup guide, and then starting the Software Setup guide, we have managed to connect to the board via blueos.local. On the welcome screen, there is immediately an error message:

I’ve tried checking on a few things to see what was/was not working; screenshots of this is in the replies, as I’m limited to one embedded image.

I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction to fix these issues and get the board up and running!

Thanks in advance!
Andy

If I click ‘close’ on that first error, I’ve been able to connect to wifi, however the internet status has the message “Internet connection status is unknown”.

There’s also this warning at the top of the page:

And when trying to run the startup wizard, it just gets stuck on the “Checking internet connection” message and doesn’t progress.

Finally, I looked at updating the firmware to see if that was the issue, and have the following message when trying to select the firmware to update to:

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Hi @amurray -
It’s not possible to tell what version of BlueOS you’re using from the screenshots… It may be worth downloading 1.3.1 and flashing it if you are using an earlier version - this is visible in the lower left corner.
You may also want to try loading the BlueOS interface via the 192.168.2.2 IP address.

Is the Navigator plugged in normally? If you select “change board” under the Autopilot Firmware is Navigator available to select? Somehow software in the loop (SITL) has been selected…

To follow up - I didn’t notice that the version is visible in your screenshot. Somehow you ended up on Master, which is where development happens. Definitely a high chance of some broken code existing there! Please roll back to the stable 1.3.1 or the latest 1.4 beta currently available. That should help things!
