As of right now I’m back in business and I just completed a 20 minute dive with no real issues other than some interesting acrobatics before I setup the thruster rotations.

I had disassembled the FXTi to switch tether pairs and accidentally pulled the whole board out and disconnected the brown (main) tether pair from the tether interface board. I then plugged the brown pair back in where I thought it went and looked on my computer to verify that it had a connection, but I was surprised to see that the pings were back to normal.

Normally we use the blue/white pair for the ROV comms, but it should be fine as long as you’ve got the same pair connected on both ends
Is it possible you had different ends connected before? Homeplug (what the fathom-Xs use) is funky AC, so you can sometimes get intermittent signal working across pairs just by cross-talk from within the tether.

Looks like tomorrow’s shipwreck dive is back on schedule as long as the ROV stays the way that it is right now.

You were right. I don’t know why I was so sure that the brown pair was the main pair. I did a successful dive with only the brown pair plugged into the FXTI and the blue pair plugged into the ROV. Then I read your reply and realized my mistake. Now I have both the blue and brown pairs plugged in the FXTI because I obviously need all of the network reliability that I can get.

I have 7 videos to share tomorrow after work from my 3 days of ROV adventuring. I’m waiting for them to get uploaded and processed in the maximum quality before I make a Dive Log post.
