I had another opportunity to go back to that spot on Lake Coeur d’Alene. I found a tree with a weird barrel thing under it about 5 minutes into the video, and I’m not sure what it is. I discovered this tree 2 dives before this one, and so far the Ping360 has effortlessly led me back to it every time. I started to explore the tree, but decided against it because I didn’t want the tether to get caught on a branch. I will come back sometime in the future when the visibility is a lot better. Max depth was about 135 feet.
Is the glitching out of the video screen due to lack of processing power on the top side computer? Have you tried reducing the stream quality from the camera to see if that helps?
Yes, For that video clip I tried using Windows 10 as an experiment to see if I could get OBS to record both screens, and it didn’t really work since I couldn’t get the GPU driver to install. There even was a slight latency on the ROV controls. I usually just use Ubuntu and use OBS with hardware acceleration to only record the second screen (which only has the Ping Viewers) and it works great.
I definitely wouldn’t want to decrease the stream quality since even at maximum settings it’s barely usable in some conditions.
