Issues with the video streams in latest version of Cockpit V1.170

ok will uninstall previous and re install 1.17

1.17 , better than it was, but still lagging in the video stream by 1 or 2 seconds , previous version did not have so much of a lag maybe only about 1 second

also camera pan slower to move and blurs when panning

Ok.
In your tests with v1.16 the packet loss went down after a while. Could you test 1.17 for the same time and see how it goes?

OK will check it out

I tested the V1.17 version for about 2-3 hrs in total today, but it still remained the same , streaming stalling, vehicle disconnecting, camera pan issue, recording not growing, packets at 40-50% so no change even after testing the same variables that I tested the previous version and had better results

Could you share some logs from your v1.16 and v1.17 tests so we can take a investigate?

Which logs , the Bin files ?

I am traveling from tomorrow until mid next week, let me know exactly what you need and I will send them when I return

Cockpit logs. You can find them under Menu>Settings>Dev.

Hello Rafael, the forum would not allow me to upload the logs, so I have emailed them to BR support requesting that they forward them onto you.

thanks

Also what are temporary video files ? is it ok to delete them all ?

Was this because of the file extension? I’ve just enabled support for uploading .syslog files.

Noting that BR is on break at the moment, and will return on the 5th of January.

Assuming you’re referring to the chunks from the Raw tab, they’re backups that the main video recording files are generated from.

If your normal recordings are fine then those chunks can (and should, from time to time) be deleted to free up some storage on your computer, but if you have recordings that aren’t processing properly into playable video files then they could be worth keeping around if you want those recordings recovered / the problem to be investigated.

Hello @rafael.lehmkuhl

Have you had a chance to view the old and new cockpit versions’ logs ?

Also, has any headway been made with showing a time stamp along with the lat and long data recording log.

Hi @Mac1

I’m working on the timestamp request. We should have a beta release with it included this week.

About the logs, unfortunately they don’t tell as much. We are currently working on improving the amount of info in the system logs and adding a debug mode, so we can improve our ability to help in those cases. I should ping you in the next weeks to try something around that as well.

Hello Rafael and Eliot,

I was carrying out a survey inspection today using cockpit with two cameras and recording both video streams. Now I came ashore and tried to process the videos they will not process. I am hitting “process videos,” the top bar goes green and works its way along then when it is near the end (right side) it turns red and comes up with message … video processing failed …….

This is the first time I have used Cockpit in the field, and as you can imagine, not being unable to view the video footage is very frustrating.

Is there any way that I can retrieve/process these videos now ?

I have not deleted any of the video chunks.

Thanks

murdo

Hi @Mac1 -
What version of Cockpit were you using? And BlueOS version?

Processing the videos should only be necessary if they didn’t record correctly - do you not have any recordings in your home folder, under Cockpit / Videos? The home folder is one level above your Documents/Downloads folders.

If you still have the video chunks, newer versions of Cockpit should process them with the built-in tool…

Has the V1.17 version recording issue now been resolved ? as I do not want to install it and have the same issues again , or is a newer version been issued ?

please advise , thanks

I have just retried installing the latest version of cockpit V1.17, but still the same issues and message…vehicle connection lost …keeps coming up. I reinstalled V1.16 again and the connection is working

How can I recover the video chunks ? When I updated the cockpit to V1.17 the previous days video chunks were no longer available to process ? Then I reinstalled V1.16 and the video chunks are still saved in their folder , but I do not know how to process or transfer them into a viewing format ?

please advise

Hi @Mac1 -
On version 17 (or the latest beta 18) you should see the processing tab in the video manager - does anything appear under it?
