I plugged the topside fathom-x to my laptop which is using its own battery. The connection becomes unreliable when I plugged joystick to another usb port or the power of laptop goes below 20%. I’m using a 300m tether.
The Fathom-X board requires a fair amount of power (as much as 0.5 amps at 5 vdc) which is more than some laptops / tablets can provide. As an alternative, you can use a “portable cell phone battery” to power the Fathom-X and not draw power from your laptop.
@ooyama - I agree with Paul. Some laptops have weakly powered USB ports and might have trouble. I’d recommend using an external battery or a powered USB hub.
