Extend DSL signal

Hi,

We are currently experimenting with increasing our total tether length without having to switch to fiber comms. We use Fathom-X cards and have experienced that our max cable length with DSL is around 500m. We want to reach 6-700m and are therefore experimenting with connecting two 300m tethers together with a cannsister containting two Fathom-X cards inside to “boost” the signal (see drawing). Do you have any experience with a similar setup or see any reasons why this can/cannot work?

Hi @krisaue -
That’s an interesting idea! In my experience, multiple fathom-x connections in close proximity don’t work - such as trying to use two twisted pairs in a tether to carry two fathom-x connections. That said, I’ve never tried the extension approach you describe - only one way to find out for sure!
Typically performance of the existing hardware is limited to 300m for the standard, and 200m for the slim tether. Newer versions of the module used can support longer lengths!
