Error in compass

Hello to everyone,

During our tests yesterday, we noticed a problem with the ROV’s compass.

Our ROV was facing the beach while the compass was pointing at 200. But when we returned to 200 after using it for 5 minutes, this time it was showing a different location.

What could be the reasons for this? Other parts of the robot that create a magnetic field?

As you know, driving without a compass is impossible. Can you help with this?

I recommend reading our compass troubleshooting information.

Metal structures in the operating area can be problematic, and there can also be issues if there are high current (e.g power or thruster) wires going too close to the sensor, especially if they’re not shielded.
