DWE Micro SVC on the BR2

Hi, has anyone manage to integrate the DWE Micro SVC into a BR2 ?

Cheers Colin

Hi @Seair -
Generally, that device should not be necessary with the BlueROV2! Up to 3x USB exploreHD cameras can be connected (limited by 5V supply of Raspberry Pi), and all simultaneously streamed and recorded as desired to Cockpit. The picture in picture possibilities with the video widget are quite fun! You can also install the DWE OS extension (a bit of a pain currently, but coming to BlueOS extension manager for 1-click install any day now), and lower the bitrate of the cameras if your tether is long enough to introduce limitations there…

Hi Tony.

Unfortunately, unable to connect the cameras separately, I’ve one spare hole in end plate.

Was thinking of connecting the POE 4/5+ & 7/8- to a 5v 6A power supply with the enclosure and both TX & RX with RJ45 connector into separate Fathom boards via a twisted pair, 1 in the enclosure, the other topside connected to another laptop.

Thoughts ?

Hi @Seair -
I think you’re saying you would try and run 2x Fathom-X links within the same tether - this typically doesn’t work, due to interference. I would think installing an ethernet switch in your ROV, and connecting both the Pi, Fathom-X, and this (and other) ethernet devices to it.

I’ve never heard of POE that runs at only 5V - but if that works with the DWE product, great.

Tony, noted regarding the possible issues with 2 Fathom X on same tether.

Have an ethernet switch available to use.

According to DWE, the SVC wil operate from 5 volts

Hi Tony.

Manage to get this SVC + 3 cameras working with a POE extender,

Transmitter and receiver connected to a spare twisted pair, stripped the transmitter down to the bare board to fit inside the enclosure. Receiver is connected to a POE switch and a standalone mini PC with Discovery.

On the sub, the standard Low Light and another DWE camera running on the DWE extension.
5 Cameras & Ping 360 running no issues.

Question I have, would it be possible to run the SVC setup on same laptop, change of IP addresses on SVC ?

Cheers Colin

Hi @Seair -
I would think a question on the features of the DWE SVC configuration would be better suited to DWE support… sorry I’m not familiar with that product at all!
