Disc space clean-up

I have a red disc icon in my BlueOS it says disc space is close to full and that i should clean up disc space. Is there instructions somewhere that explain how to do this. I have searched all forums and also BlueOS documents but have not been able to find anything on it?

Hi @darren.horler -
You’re right, the documentation should cover the various red “alarms” that can be present in BlueOS. For the moment, I’ll cover the steps to take.

  1. Navigate to Log Browser and delete all logs (backup first if desired.)
  2. Click the settings icon in the lower right (the gear) and click “delete all mavlink logs”
  3. Remove any unused extensions, and if using SonarView, delete the log files found via the File Browser (you’ll need to be in pirate mode to see this option). This file browser will also show you the available space on the left side.

Current Blue Robotics vehicles ship with a 128gb SD card - this is a lot more than the standard 16gb from the past. You may want to consider getting a larger SD card and flashing it with BlueOS if this is a frequent issue!

There are brief descriptions of these in the system status documentation, but you’re right that the information there is limited and could be improved. I’ve flagged that and added a note about it here, to improve the documentation coverage in future - thanks for the suggestion

Very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you.

I have a vehicle with an old 16Gb SD. I was also getting an alert that the drive was full so I flashed BlueOS to a 128Gb SD and installed it, but I am still getting the 91% alert and the disc usage says only 14Gb.

Hi @gcelec -
You need to “expand the image” to make the 16gb image realize it has the full space. Do this, restart, and you should be all set! Select “copied SD card” to see relevant terminal command.

That worked, thanks Tony.
