I am using 2 - T200 thrusters with independent controls for steering. I am upgrading to BR basic ESC units. Unsure how to connect ESC two wire plug to RC receivers. I currently have Archer R6 receivers.
Hi @RobHarr -
Welcome to the forums!
The black and white wire of the Servo connector coming from the ESC connect to your desired receiver output channel. The Black wire should be connected to ground, and the white wire to signal. The receiver may need a power supply (5V) connected to the center pin, in order to power it - many ESCs include this, but not the basic ESC…You can install one independently!
There is a full guide here, did you try searching?
Tony, A couple of weeks ago we were emailing about my set up. I posted on the support forum as you suggested. You just replied to me … Thanks!!
You did recommend the UBEC 5 V supply. I connected it. It worked for a while but then the UBEC 5V supply got really hot. There was some smoke involved. I must have connected things wrong. I got the pin layout and as you said on the forum post I got the white and black to signal and ground. Then I connected the pos & neg to what I thought were appropriate pins.
I just read the article you sent. Very helpful. I assume connecting the power to the receiver the way I did was the problem.
I am going to get new receivers. I have Taranis Q X7. I googled the receivers in your example. Am I correct that any 2.4G receiver will work with a 2.4G transmitter. Seems Like I just have to go through the “binding” process.

Hi @RobHarr
It’s usually a good idea to match the receiver brand to the transmitter, or verify the receiver is compatible with the transmitter via the source vendor. Just because it is 2.4 Ghz doesn’t guarantee it is compatible, there are a few different protocols out there…
Tony, thank for you help with this. I am lost with the receiver issue. I have spent the last 2 hours googling and searching amazon. I am just not sure what I am looking at.
Taranis is made by FrSky. So I have been looking at FrSky receivers.
The manual for Taranis Q X7 says compatible with FrSky X series, D series and V8-II.
I also see ACCST on the front of the Controller.
I am currently looking at these. Would you mind letting me know if I am going in the right direction?
Hi @RobHarr -
From the product description:
- Compatibility: FrSky transmitters/transmitter modules in D8/D16 mode
That means if your transmitter has D8/D16 mode, it should work with that receiver!
