BlueROV2 nose dives when driven forwards on 100% gain

Hi @WST,

This is an 8 year old forum thread - a lot has changed since the initial discussion, including most of the software stack. You’ll need to be more specific on what you have done and what behaviour you’re seeing for us to be able to help you. I suspect this discussion belongs in a different/new thread, but will wait for your follow-up to decide whether to move it.

Which calibration function are you referring to? Joystick calibration?
It’s not clear what you’ve tried to calibrate, or how.

What are you considering to be “default mode”? Is this manual flight mode? Or using QGroundControl instead of Cockpit?

In case it’s relevant, I would note that

  1. If you are using the Vectored (not 6DoF) ArduSub frame, but without your vehicle being designed like the BlueROV2 (or with some extra payload), you may need to adjust the forward/vertical to pitch decoupling factor
  2. There is some ongoing work to compensate for thruster asymmetry and non-linearity which may help with undesirable cross-axis coupling, though it’s unclear whether it will help in this particular case (especially at maximum thrust).
  3. Considering the buoyancy and mass distribution may also be of interest.
