Hi guys. We were just wondering if it is important to keep the same version of BESC when making replacements on the BlueROV2. In other words, if your BlueROV2 uses R1, can you replace one R1 BESC with an R3 or should you swap them all out for the same version?

You may replace some or all of the ESCs with a different version, and the ROV will operate correctly. The one thing to look out for is that our first ESCs had a red wire that powers the camera servo. Our later ESCs do not have this wire, and so those ROVs that came without the ‘no red wire’ escs also include an independent 5V power supply (Hobbywing UBEC) to power the camera servo.
