Hi,
We are about to take delivery of our BlueBoat and are now sourcing batteries for the unit. We plan to use 8x 10Ah batteries.
What are the pros/cons between BlueRobotics 10Ah ($240 per) vs the incredibly cheaper Turnigy 10Ah Li-pos ($58 per)?
BR recommended alternative * Turnigy Li-po (14.8V, 10Ah) (Hobby King)
8x
BR = $1920
TU =- $464
At 25% the price of BR batts, it seems like a no-brainer.
However, cheap is not always better. Just wanted to make sure we are not setting ourselves up for a heartache later.
Thanks,
Mike
Hi @ArduBuilder -
Comparing their C rating, the cheaper battery claims it can continuously discharge at 12C (vs Blue Robotics at 9C), and burst higher as well. With as many batteries as you’ll have in parallel, and the low power draw of the Blue Boat, I would not expect this to make any performance difference.
Aside from potential quality issues from the supplier, I don’t see any reason why those batteries wouldn’t work just fine.
Always remember to balance charge, and not over-discharge packs!
Hi Tony,
Thanks so much for your insights. We truly appreciate it!
Mike
