I see that there are separate grounds for Power and the PWM signal. Are these isolated? In other words, if the motor 12v power ground is sitting at 1 volt above battery ground in a thick wire in my tether, and my signal ground is sitting at .1 volt above battery ground in a thin wire, will current try to gush through from the power ground which is driving the motors?

My hope would be yes they are isolated and ground return from motors will not feed into my skinny wire.

Ed,

The signal and power grounds are not isolated. The large wire provides a low-resistance path for current, but if you are concerned about how that will work through a tether I would recommend leaving the signal ground wire disconnected.
