Basic ESC 500 Alternatives?

Hello all!!

Does anyone know, if aftermarket speed controllers from Amazon work well with T500 thrusters? I am on a time and budget crunch, at the moment and one of our BASIC ESC 500 got smoked during our last test’s in the water as there were cracks in our hulls and it got flooded with water which caused the ESC to short-circuit.

I don’t have enough funds to buy a new esc and not enough time for Blue Robotics to ship the ESC from California to Delaware.

Hence I was wondering if I can buy aftermarket ESC from amazon with programming board, as it will be delivered in 1-2 days.

If anyone knows any good alternatives please share me the link / information so I can purchase.

Thanks in adv.

Hi @rsd23 -
As long as it is rated for 50-60 amps, and the firmware supports running the motor in both directions, you should be fine! Many speed controllers have firmware for quadcopters/planes, that only spins in one direction. If you’ve confirmed the one you’re planning on has firmware that supports bidirectional use, then it should work just fine! Otherwise many ESCs for RC cars have bidirectional firmware by default…
